Moroccan AgriTech company, Sand to Green, was recently awarded the 1st Prize (€25,000) at the Orange Social Venture Prize Africa & Middle East 2025, for its pioneering work in regenerative agroforestry.

Sand to Green’s model combines high-tech and ecology: the startup designs and implements agroforestry systems on degraded or arid lands, turning them into productive, carbon-sequestering, biodiversity-rich ecosystems. Their approach helps landowners and agricultural investors transition to sustainable, resilient systems that deliver returns and restore the environment.

By winning, Sand to Green not only receives the prize money but also gains access to mentorship, exposure across Orange’s network, and potential partnerships across the continent. Their pathway now includes scaling operations, entering new markets and consolidating their climate-agriculture value proposition.

And with Sand to Green taking first place, the Orange Prize underscores agriculture and land-use innovation as priority areas for African tech-for-good

Says the company:

This prize celebrates resilience 👏 — the persistence that drives entrepreneurs and innovators to keep building solutions for a better future. It’s a recognition of our incredible team, our partners, and every person who believes that agriculture can be both profitable and regenerative.

As Sand to Green transforms barren lands into regenerative production systems, their win sends a powerful message: Africa’s future lies not just in digital apps but in greening its landscapes and building sustainable value chains. For stakeholders—governments, investors, startups—this is one to watch.

The OSVP is an established innovation platform by Orange Middle East and Africa (MEA), now celebrating its 15th year and having received more than 17,000 submissions this edition alone. The competition recognises tech-enabled social or environmental ventures from 17 countries, with this year’s edition drawing 70 finalists. Five winners were selected, each awarded funding and support via Orange’s Digital Centres.
