Creative entrepreneurs in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa have a new opportunity to secure funding for projects exploring the intersection of technology, digital rights and everyday life.
Organisers, CcHUB Creative Economy, have launched a new initiative offering 25 grants worth a combined $110,000 to support filmmakers, podcasters, digital creators, animators, immersive experience designers and digital artists whose work examines issues such as digital privacy, online rights, Big Tech and the growing influence of technology across African societies.
The programme includes:
- 20 Storytelling Grants valued at $5,000 each, supporting original storytelling projects focused on digital rights, privacy and technology’s impact on everyday African life.
- Five Artistic Commission Grants worth $2,000 each, aimed at creatives developing innovative artistic interpretations of similar themes.
Beyond financial support, successful applicants will join an intensive workshop programme bringing together more than 600 creatives from across the three countries. Running from September to December 2026, the immersive programme will explore how storytelling can become a powerful tool for advancing social, economic and gender justice in the digital age.
The initiative reflects a growing recognition that Africa’s rapidly expanding digital economy presents not only opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship, but also important questions around data privacy, platform accountability, algorithmic bias and citizens’ digital rights.
As artificial intelligence, social media platforms and digital financial services become increasingly embedded in daily life across the continent, storytellers are playing an increasingly important role in helping communities understand the opportunities, challenges and ethical implications of the technologies shaping their futures.
Applications are open to eligible creatives in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.
Application deadline: August 28, 2026
