Chris Maclay has announced that Jobtech Alliance (where he is a Program Director) is looking for a ‘born entrepreneur’, with experience working as an operator in the jobtech space.
The Jobtech Alliance is an ecosystem-building initiative focused on fostering inclusive jobtech in Africa. Launched in late 2021 by Mercy Corps and BFA Global, it aims to support digital platforms that connect individuals to work opportunities, thereby enhancing livelihoods across the continent.
His LinkedIn post reads:
Who knows of an amazing Nigerian who wants to join our team at the Jobtech Alliance? 😍
We’re looking for someone to lead our work based in Lagos supporting the best jobtech start-ups in Nigeria to create meaningful jobs, gigs, or business opportunities for their users. The role, housed at BFA Global, will involve:
🚀 Finding the best jobtech start-ups in Nigeria, and supporting them to unlock their potential through direct support and linking to the best start-up support available
🧬 Lead local ecosystem engagement, finding the right partners and collaborators to move forward the sector
If you know someone great, please DM me, and I’ll share the link!
The Alliance operates through two primary workstreams:
- Creating an Enabling Environment: This involves building a knowledge base through research and community engagement, spotlighting the sector, and promoting collaboration among startups, funders, supporters, policymakers, and researchers. The goal is to establish conditions that allow entrepreneurs to develop platforms delivering quality livelihoods.
- Venture Support: The Alliance offers acceleration activities to help jobtech platforms scale and create more jobs. This includes providing grant capital, bespoke venture-building support, technical assistance, management support, and connections to investors, mentors, peers, or business leads. The focus is on enhancing the viability, inclusivity, and impact of these platforms.
By focusing on these areas, the Jobtech Alliance seeks to build a robust jobtech ecosystem in Africa, aiming to create and improve quality jobs and bring income opportunities to people across the continent.
