My name is Anne Agbakoba, Publisher of Bank & Entrepreneur Africa – and we have just formally launched our #ItsToughEnough campaign – an audacious online initiative that harnesses the know-how of world-leading entrepreneurial experts to help take citizens of Africa from idea (or even no-idea) stage to viable business.
Our first expert volunteers are Marc Goldberg (founder, Marc Goldberg Photography) and Precious L. Williams (founder, Perfect Pitches by Precious) who have both volunteered to share their expertise with every ambitious Nigerian through Masterclass online sessions, in February 2024.
Marc kicks off with what he calls ‘low-hanging fruit’ – an immediate opportunity to start and grow a successful photography business, armed with the simple, humble and ubiquitous camera. Mr. Goldberg’s pedigree lists clients such as The New Yorker, The Washington Post, LA Times, CNN, People magazine, Stand up to Cancer, Rabobank, AXA, and The New York Genome Center.
Precious is the bold #KillerPitchMaster, who says that much of the success of the #ItsToughEnough campaign lies not just in sparking that business idea, but also in persuading potential clients that your business is the only option that truly matters. Ms. Williams has a hard-earned reputation for converting conversations into currency, and she is a world-class speaker and trainer for global brands like BMW, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Harvard University and Columbia University.
#ItsToughEnough has its origins in a time when I was shattered by the loss of my brother Michael in 2021, but continued to function optimally as both as an individual and corporate leader, thanks to support from family and brands like Delta Airlines.
I have since taken it on as a responsibility to source even the simplest of resources for helping intending and actual entrepreneurs find their feet – just like I had received help. One of the best ways is to skill/ re-skill/ up-skill people.
As we kick-off #ItsToughEnough, B&E’s task is to contribute towards making Nigeria vibrant and great by igniting an entrepreneurial boom, increasing the percentage of women entrepreneurs, and supporting government efforts at becoming a leading economy, as well as achieving impressive rankings on both the Global Competitiveness and Human Development Indices.
Marc and Precious’ sessions are free to attend.
