Dr Modupe Elebute-Odunsi (Co-Founder & CEO, Marcelle Ruth Cancer Centre & Specialist Hospital – MRCC) has announced the Centre’s accreditation by the National Postgraduate Medical College (NPMC) NPMCN INFO to offer Residency programs in Clinical and Radiation Oncology.
Expressing her delight at being the first private hospital in Nigeria to achieve this milestone, Elebute-Odunsi says:
We are delighted to participate in capacity building to increase the number of Oncology specialists by providing first-class postgraduate training within the country.
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 17 to improve capacity building. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Health (MOSH), represented today by Dr. Lola Adeyemi, Senior Special Adviser on Research and Innovation, for his pivotal role and policies to enable this innovative collaboration between private and public health stakeholders to widen access to postgraduate training.Special thanks also to Prof. Dr Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo, CMD of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and Prof. Fatiu Arogundade, College Registrar of the National Postgraduate College of Nigeria, for their invaluable support to create this residency program.
Elebute-Odunsi asserts that Marcelle Ruth clearly understand the responsibility that comes with the new accreditation, and are therefore in the process of creating, together with international partners, an outstanding curriculum comparable with institutions worldwide.
