Africapitalist, economist, banker and philanthropist Tony O. Elumelu has joined other world leaders and high-level executives in New York for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly where he intends to make a case for transformative economic growth for Africa, creating employment for the continent’s youth, and establishing an equitable energy transition for Africa.
Elumelu’s daughter (Oge Elumelu) joins him as she has on several of his business trips, and in a nod to her dexterity, Tony urges the public to plug into Oge’s new podcast (Conversations with Oge) where he is confident she will capture his salient thoughts, at UNGA 79, on creating prosperity for all.
Tony Elumelu CFR chairs Heirs Holdings, the Transcorp Group, United Bank for Africa, and is the founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation – a pedigree that puts him in good stead to meaningfully support the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly which marks a crucial milestone in the global effort to accelerate progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The highly anticipated Summit of the Future, held during UNGA, underscores the urgent need for enhanced international cooperation to address pressing challenges such as climate change, poverty and inequality, while also tackling the impacts of ongoing conflicts and global health crises.
