Spain has launched a new visa program catering to digital nomads who seek to blend their remote work arrangements with travel. This program allows non-resident freelancers and remote workers to immerse themselves in Spanish culture, architecture, cuisine, and nightlife while staying connected to their jobs.
According to the VisaGuide Digital Nomad Index – a comprehensive listing that evaluates and ranks countries based on their suitability for digital nomads – Spain is the top country for digital nomads, with a score of 4.50.
Spain is followed by Argentina in the 2nd place with a score of 3.72. Romania, United Arab Emirates and Croatia are ranked 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively to complete the top five list of the best countries for Digital Nomads.
As of 2023, Spain’s remote work visa allows people to live in the country for up to a year as long as they have an income of at least double Spain’s minimum wage, more than €2,600 (or $2,750), a month.
This index considers various factors critical for remote workers who travel and live in different countries.
