The 1000 Black Voices Fintech Trade Mission, scheduled from April 08 to 12, 2024, in the vibrant city of New York, has officially taken off! Founders on the Trade Mission, who will be exploring opportunities for fundraising and their expansion to the US, include:
- Demi Ariyo, Managing Director, Lendo – an access to funding platform for underestimated entrepreneurs.
- Leroy Lawrence, CEO of Pigee Inc – a payment app that increases tourist focused merchant sales 400%, by sending travel shopping home directly from brick-and-mortar shops in 117 countries.
- Leon Wilson, CEO of PollenPay – a buy now, pay later platform allowing customers to spread the cost of a purchase or service over multiple instalments over a scheduled period of time. PollenPay pays merchants for customers’ purchases upfront and collects installments from the customer over a period of time.
The goal of the 1000 Black Voices Fintech trade mission to New York is to equip these UK-based black founders with the knowledge and connections they need to confidently enter the US market and ultimately thrive.
Over the course of the mission, the founders will meet with tri-state economic development agencies; attend sessions hosted by sales, legal, and tax experts; connect with leading banking innovation teams and venture capital firms; and receive wisdom and advice from industry leaders.
A major highlight of the Mission will be participation in New York Fintech Week 2024 – an annual series of conferences, workshops, hackathons, meetups, and parties that attract the best and brightest in diverse fintech verticals. serving as a bridge to connect entrepreneurs, domain experts, bank innovators, and the investment community.
