ENUGU, NIGERIA – Enugu State has launched “Café One Enugu,” a modern coworking and coffee space, designed to provide a collaborative and inspiring environment for entrepreneurs, remote workers, creatives, and tech professionals to innovate.

Café One Enugu is a partnership between the Enugu State Government, the Enugu SME Centre, and Café One whose General Manager, Kelechi Nwaozuzu and her team have played a key role in its development. Powered by Sterling Bank, the Café One concept offers a unique blend of workspace and café culture, fostering productivity and networking.
Arinze Chilo-Offiah (Director General of the Enugu SME Centre and Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Economy and MSMEs) expressed excitement about the hub becoming “a melting pot for innovation and collaboration,” adding, “For me, this isn’t just about opening a building; it’s about opening doors for Ndi Enugu to thrive in the digital future.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Prof. Chidi Onyia, Secretary to the State Government, and other prominent leaders.

Offiah described the project as “more than just a coffee shop,” combining “innovation, community, and empowerment in one space.”
The initiative comes as remote work has seen a significant surge in Nigeria, increasing by 200% between 2020 and 2022. Offiah emphasised the importance of such spaces, particularly as Enugu becomes a hub for tech talent.

He says:
With the rise of remote work across Nigeria…having spaces like Café One is essential especially as Enugu is quickly becoming an attractive destination for tech professionals, startups, and creatives.
This hub provides the perfect environment for them to connect, grow, and scale their ideas globally.

Chilo-Offiah adds:
[Café One Enugu] is also one of the four government-supported coworking spaces we plan to establish across Enugu as part of our commitment to creating a thriving digital economy.
The strong backing from H.E. Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah reflects our shared vision of positioning Enugu as a centre for innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable growth. Every part of its creation reflects a deep belief in our people’s potential.
