On Wednesday, April 24, 2024 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between MTN Bénin and Huawei Technologies Limited, with a clear objective of equipping girls and women with the skills and knowledge required to excel in an increasingly dynamic technological landscape.
Central to the partnership is a commitment to education and skill-building, through a series of targeted programs and initiatives. MTN Bénin and Huawei are expected to work hand in hand to provide women with access to comprehensive training in digital technologies – from coding and programming, to data analysis and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Says Uche Ofodile (CEO, MTN Bénin):
As we approach the International Day of Girls in ICT, we must all remember the urgent need to close the digital gender gap. Indeed, according to recent studies, the share of women and girls worldwide in data and artificial intelligence professions is only less than 30%.
With the signing of this Protocol, MTN Bénin affirms that the company is resolutely dedicated to promoting inter-generational equity, as well as encouraging diversity in the ICT sector for the benefit of girls and women across Bénin.
