Mali-Bamako: Fashion designer, Ade Bakare, gives a bow at the African Textile Night, a fashion show celebrating use of African textiles 🎥AdeBakare

La Nuit du Textile Africain (African Textile Night), a major event in the 2024 fashion calendar, took place on May 18, 2024, at the Radisson Collection Hotel in Bamako (Mali).

The African Textile Night, in collaboration with Marie Kaba Haute Couture, celebrates the richness and diversity of African creativity, rich in artisanal heritage and stunning textiles – despite the fact that over 80% of the textile used in the continent’s fashion industry is imported from Europe and Asia.

Renown British-Nigerian fashion designer, Ade Bakare (Founder & Design Director at Ade Bakare Couture) made quite a showing. His designs have been described as classic with a touch of modernity using fabrics such as wool, silk, lace and crèpes. He is equally celebrated for his gazar and organza sweep coats, which are both ultra-feminine and luxurious.

Describing the evening, Bakare says:

A night celebrating African fashion designers, presenting their collections in African textiles, we showed a range of dresses and jackets in Aso oke and Adire themed with silk organza, chiffons, laces and satins – a beautiful night, many thanks to Marie Kaba and Carlos
