As the thrilling 2024 Paris Paralympic Games come to an end, Team Nigeria have hauled in a total of six medals as at the penultimate day (Saturday, September 07), while hoping to secure two additional medals on the final day in their last two para-powerlifting events today, Sunday.
The country’s medal tally table currently looks like this:
The sensational Mariam Eniola Bolaji set the pace by being the first to make a mark for Nigeria on the medals table. She claimed the Para badminton bronze medal in the women’s SL3 category.
Next was Esther Nworgu who was moved to tears after winning her first Paralympic medal, securing silver in the women’s 41kg powerlifting event.
Following closely, the phenomenal Onyinyechi Mark, redefining the impossible by breaking the world record with her final regular lift of 147kg, and breaking the world record a second time with an incredible 150kg Power Lift a few minutes later.
Flora Ugwunwa showed her incredible strength in the Women’s Javelin Throw (F54 Final) by winning the Silver Medal with an exceptional throw of 19.26m.
Ogunkunle Isau is triumphant as he secures a bronze medal in Para Table Tennis (Men’s Singles-MS4).
Last but certainly not least, Omolayo Bose shone through in the Women’s Para Powerlifting 69kg final, bringing home a silver medal!
