Nigerian Para powerlifter Onyinyechi Mark is nothing short of exceptional. 🔥🤯 The 23-year-old also secured Nigeria’s first gold medal in the sport at this year’s Paralympics.
She broke the world record twice back-to-back in her debut appearance at La Chapelle Arena on September 06, with her final regular lift of 147kg breaking the world record – before an incredible 150kg Power Lift just moments later, which broke the world record again, and secured her gold medal.
Onyinyechi came into her first Paralympic Games looking to conquer the world, and when she departs Paris, she will certainly be taking along with her a gold medal and new world record.
Paris 2024 may have been Mark’s first taste of this global stage, but she had arrived as world champion in the up to 61kg category, following success in Dubai last year.
Remarkably, Mark entered the international Para Powerlifting stage only three years ago and has since the Worlds silver and gold, and Paralympic gold while breaking both world and Paralympic records. 🔝
