The Lagos State Government has officially launched Lagos Agrithon 2025, a transformative initiative aimed at fostering innovation and sustainability within the state’s agriculture and food systems.
Announced by Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, the program offers a ₦150 million grant pool to support at least 35 promising agrifood startups and youth-led ventures across Lagos State.

Ms. Olusanya stated during the press briefing:
Lagos Agrithon is more than a contest. It is a movement—a platform for bold ideas, youth-led innovation, and scalable solutions that tackle the food challenges of today and anticipate those of tomorrow
Application details and eligibility
Applications for Lagos Agrithon 2025 opened on June 2 and will close on June 27, 2025. Eligible applicants must be aged between 18 and 40 years, have operated a startup within the agriculture and food systems sector for 0 to 5 years, be based in Lagos or demonstrate measurable impact within the state, and be registered with both the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA).
Applicants are required to submit a pitch deck outlining the problem addressed, proposed solution, and anticipated impact of their innovation.

Focus areas and program structure
The Agrithon seeks innovative solutions in areas such as sustainable agriculture, food production across value chains, agri-fintech, precision farming, supply chain and logistics, food security, agri-data analytics, and value addition.
The program includes virtual and physical pitch sessions, a dedicated mentorship hub to refine business models and execution strategies, and will culminate in a Grand Finale during the Lagos Agrinnovation Summit 2.0, connecting innovators with investors, policymakers, and industry leaders.

Strategic importance
With Lagos consuming over 70% more food than it produces and its population projected to exceed 30 million by 2035, the need for sustainable and scalable food systems is paramount. The Agrithon aims to address these challenges by supporting innovative, youth-led solutions that enhance food security, drive economic growth, and generate employment.
