Food farmer, Kafilat Adedeji‘s award-winning Automated Modular Circular Mushroom – Aquaponics Greenhouse System (MCG Kit) has launched formally into the Nigerian market! The kit allows users in the city grow their own 100% organic foods (mushrooms, vegetables , herbs and spices and fish together) in a Circular ecosystem, from their homes – even in the smallest of spaces.
Users do not need to know how to farm, neither do they require farmland to get started. Even better, the system works on autopilot, which ensures that post-set up by Kafilat and her team, maintenance simply involves a commitment of 1 – 2hours every other day until harvest time. Monitoring may be done via mobile phone.
Says Kafilat of one of her installations (above): ” This particular MCG will grow up to 430 plants , with 50 fishes 🐟 to maturity all on autopilot 😀, with very low maintenance, and will only require one hour of light work every other day. And to crown it all, it occupies a space of 160 square feet that is less than 1/30th of a plot of land – fitting perfectly on any urban space!
For her endeavour, Kafilat recently received an award at the Israeli @ifairisraelnigeria i-FAIR 3rd cohort, following an engaging showcase and a Dragon’s Den-style entrepreneur pitch, anchored by a super-experienced panel of business leaders and investors.
