Building More Than Entry: How Moniepoint Is Retaining and Elevating Women in Tech
A few years back, Tosin Eniolorunda (Co Founder & Group CEO, Moniepoint Inc) and the team at Moniepoint set out to solve a deeper problem in tech: not just getting more women in, but ensuring they stay, grow, and lead. What began as a focused intervention has evolved into a high-impact talent pipeline—one that goes beyond access to deliver measurable retention, real career progression, and stories of women shaping critical systems from within. Here are Tosin’s thoughts:
“Six years ago, when we made the decision to build a dedicated pipeline for women in tech at Moniepoint Group, we did it with a clear understanding of what the global data already showed us about the industry.
More women are entering tech than ever before, but entry has never really been the hardest part of the problem. Whether people continue in their roles, develop new skills, and move into leadership positions matter just as much. That thinking shaped how we approached Women in Tech at Moniepoint from day one.
Five cohorts in, we’ve onboarded multiple women into engineering, product, design, and data roles. But most importantly, we’ve recorded a 95% retention rate, with participants doing really well and transitioning into core roles at Moniepoint. While that data is important, the real impact shows up in individual journeys. We have people like Feranmi who joined three years ago through the 2022 Women in Tech internship and worked on third party integrations for our POS services. Her work laid the foundation for integrations of some of our key business units.
This year, we go again. Applications are now open for the 2026 Women in Tech internship. If you’re looking to build a career in tech, this is an opportunity to start from inside the system. And if you know someone who should be here, share this with them.“
