On Monday, August 12, the Ekiti State Government launched the State’s first innovation hub (Ekiti Startup Garage – ESG) at Obafemi Awolowo Civic Centre, Ado-Ekiti.
This state-of-the-art facility with 24/7 power supply and high-speed internet promises to be a game-changer that will foster technological advancement, scientific research, and a thriving digital economy through its capacity for bringing together techpreneurs, researchers, developers and investors to collaborate and create groundbreaking solutions for both local and global challenges.
At the launch, Governor Biodun Oyebanji described the Ekiti Startup Garage as a dynamic and comprehensive digital ecosystem designed to empower the youth, entrepreneurs, and innovators by providing them with the tools and resources needed to excel in the tech industry. He reaffirmed his administration’s support for youth development, job creation and youth inclusion through both policy-making and projects.
The Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Digital Economy, Seun Fakuade thanked the Governor for his unwavering commitment to youth development and establishing the state as a major talent hub for innovation. He also revealed that the Governor has approved the first phase of the Innovation Enterprise Support Fund to empower talented youths in the state to develop their ideas.
A major highlight of the ceremony was a display of innovative projects undertaken by the young participants. Each innovator explained the ideas behind their innovations to the Governor and the people present.
The Ekiti StartUp Garage is now officially open , and testing of ideas has already begun.
