Nigerian HR tech startup SeamlessHR has raised $9 million in its latest funding round led by the Gates Foundation and Helios Digital Ventures.
What makes the company’s HR and payroll solutions intuitive is that they are tailored specifically for African businesses, addressing unique challenges such as local compliance, multi-currency transactions, and infrastructure limitations. This localised approach ensures better alignment with regional needs compared to generic global solutions.
This latest funding – which aims to drive SeamlessHR’s expansion across Africa, enhance workforce productivity, and introduce innovative solutions such as embedded finance offerings and AI-driven workforce management technology – brings SeamlessHR’s total capital raised to approximately $25 million since its inception in 2018.
Recently, SeamlessHR introduced an innovative Employee Benefits package featuring Earned Wage Access (EWA) and employee loans, which allows employees to access earned wages before payday and secure soft loans for unexpected expenses.
Dr. Emmanuel Okeleji, Nigerian entrepreneur and co-founder/ CEO of SeamlessHR, has shown commitment to ensuring his company’s truly African HR & payroll solutions bridge the gap left by global providers, therefore empowering businesses with tools that cater to the realities of the African workforce.
In the African HR tech landscape, SeamlessHR competitors include Decagon, a Nigerian company training world-class software developers, and Africa’s Talking, a Kenyan firm providing APIs to help developers and businesses bring their ideas to life.
