Fauzziyah Ebunoluwa (Founder, Fauzziyah’s Honey) refers to herself as ‘Nigeria’s No 1 Beekeeper’, and she has earned a reputation as the go-to person for harvested raw honey.
Her jars of honey are priced from NGN6,000 with each containing 600 grams of raw honey.
Stressing the importance of hygiene in the production of goods that are ingested orally and used by households and hospitals for nutritional and medicinal purposes, Fauzziyah says: “It’s not just enough that I harvest my honey. How I take it from the forest to your table is also important. I went for training on Food Safety & Standardisation for Global Markets to make sure I got the procedures right.

“The training taught me a lot about sanitary and food packaging procures. I learnt about food defense, the prevention of food fraud, equipment suitability, cleaning and maintenance and so much more…Through that, I also became a member of Food for Nations”.

She also adds: “If the honey you buy is always thick it is a great sign that it is highly processed or adulterated. Texture doesn’t determine originality. A lot of actual beekeepers can attest to this. If someone asks you who said this, tell them Fauzziyah said so!” 😊
