Nigeria’s ambition to become a leading AI-powered digital economy will take centre stage at GITEX NIGERIA 2026, taking place under the patronage of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from 31 August to 3 September across Abuja and Lagos.
Organised by KAOUN International and supported by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Lagos State Government, the event is West Africa’s largest technology, AI and startup exhibition.
Held under the theme “Beyond Connectivity: The Bridge to Sovereign Innovation,” the second edition comes as Nigeria accelerates its digital transformation through initiatives such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, which has trained more than 135,000 Nigerians, and Project BRIDGE, a nationwide broadband infrastructure project expected to expand internet access, create thousands of jobs and strengthen digital inclusion.
The event will bring together government leaders, technology companies, investors, startups and innovators to advance AI adoption, strengthen digital infrastructure, attract investment and promote innovation across West Africa.
New for 2026 is FDX NIGERIA by GITEX, a dedicated platform focused on digital finance and digital asset exchange, alongside the return of the Government Leadership & AI Summit, Tech Expo, Future Economy Conference and Startup Festival.
According to organisers, GITEX NIGERIA aims to strengthen Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading digital economies while supporting the continent’s projected US$1 trillion AI economy by 2035.
